Club History

The Screaming Eagles Radio Control Club was founded in 1969 when a group of friends started flying together. In 1970 they applied for a AMA charter, AMA #298. We had a succession of 4 small airfields in the Plainfield area up until 1983. In '83 we started flying at our current location (43 years ago). At that time it was the Indiana Boys School. In 2006 the Indiana Boys School became the Short Term Offenders Program (STOP) Facility. It's over time that we added all of the amenities you see today.

From the mid 1970's to mid 1980's the Club had a Flight Demonstration Team called "The Barnstormers". During the flying season they would travel to events all over the mid west and put on shows.
